The Old Manor, Twyning, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
The Old Manor at Twyning near Tewkesbury is a working small holding. It's home to Nick and Sue Lambert , our flock of Ryeland Sheep, Buff Orpington Chickens and our two border collie crosses.
The original part of the Old Manor is believed to date back to the 16th century and it's then has been added to over the years. During the 19th century the house was abandoned by the owners, who built a new gothic style manor just north of the original manor. In the 1950s the Old Manor was renovated and brought back into use.
Parts of Stable Cottage are believed to date back to the early 18th century. A second storey was added later and an traditional laundry added to the side wall. |

The Old Manor Kitchen Garden
The warm and protected, walled kitchen garden allows us to grow a wide variety of fruit and vegetables including raspberries, strawberries, blackcurrants, tomatoes, beans, peas and even kiwi fruits. Depending on availability and the season, produce boxes are available for guests to purchase. Our fruit and vegetables are also used in the Old Manor Products range of handmade jams, jellies and chutneys, which we sell online. |

The Old Manor Orchard
The Orchard has many old varieties of apple trees and a few remaining perry pear trees. New trees were planted in the late 1990s to replenish the original fruit tree stocks. One of the main reasons for creating Old Manor Products was to put the large number of apples to good, productive use. The orchard is home to our flock of Ryeland sheep - useful for keeping the grass short but they also munch the odd apple!! |

Old Manor Ryelands
Our small flock of pedigree Ryeland sheep are large, wooly and friendly - especially Hannibal the ram, who was bottle fed from about a week old when rejected by his mum. Our lambs are normally born around February/March time. We keep some to increase our breeding stock, some go to new homes as pet sheep, "lawnmowers" or to start new flocks. Ryeland lamb is full of flavour and very tender.
We sell the lamb locally but normally have supplies of various different cuts and joints in the freezer available to purchase. |
